Resident Engagement

Community Engagement efforts are created with the term Ujima in mind in an effort “To build and maintain our community together and to make our Brother’s and sister’s problems, our problems and to solve them together.” The goals of resident engagement are to protect vulnerable residents from displacement, promote social and political integration of economically marginalized residents, and to support the social mobility of economically disadvantaged residents.

The EEDC accomplishes this goal by working directly with the Third Ward is Home Civic Club to address the needs of all residents both renters and homeowners. And by hosting various community events such as National Night Out, 3rd Ward Reading Pays, College Send Off, the Mothers Hope Walk and Kids Kwanzaa Celebration.
